PREVENTING DISCRIMINATION POLICY

  1. OBJECTIVE 

Aims to provide a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in Kaiapoi Netball Club. People are expected to show respect and courtesy in their interaction with others 

  1. APPLICATION 

This policy applies to anyone involved in the Kaiapoi Netball Club Inc 

  1. DEFINITION 

It is unlawful to discriminate against a person/group of people because of the following attributes or characteristics 

  • Race, colour, descent, ancestry or national, ethnic or social origin 

  • Sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital or relationship status, pregnancy or breastfeeding, family status 

  • Disability 

  • Employment status 

  • Age 

  • Religious, ethical or political belief 

Kaiapoi Netball Club will not tolerate any discrimination by people involved within the Club/Sport or towards any people involved within the Club/sport 

  • All allegation of discrimination will be taken seriously and dealt with in accordance of the Clubs Complaints Policy and Procedures 

Any player who feels they have been discriminated against should: 

  • Discuss the situation with family/support person then decide how to address the behaviour, e.g. Club Official (administrator, coach, team manager, committee member) can help raise the issue and seek constructive conversation 

  • Both parties should have a chance to be heard respectfully and feel safe to be able to say what they want through either informal or formal processes. 

  • If this is not successful on consultation of both parties the Club Official will hold a meeting that meets the needs of those involved 

  • It is important that those involved are supported and can have family/whanau support throughout this process 

  • It is important that process is confidential to those involved 

Individuals who wish to make a complaint or report an alleged breach of this policy should follow the Complaints Procedure outlined in the Complaints Policy and Procedure.
