  1. OBJECTIVES

To select the best team of netball players in each age group/grade to represent Kaiapoi Netball Club at North Canterbury Netball and any other competitions/fixtures which may be scheduled and that teams may be entered into.

  1. APPLICATIONS

This policy is applicable to all selectors, coaches, managers and committee.

  1. DEFINITION

That selectors, coaches, managers and players have a clear indication of this policy

ACCESS TO INFORMATION

The selection panel for each grade/age group shall consist of the coach (if appointed) plus two others appointed by committee. (Parents/caregivers are NOT to select their child/children’s teams)

  • All teams will have a minimum of 8 registered players for the season

  • All social teams must have no less than 10 registered players

  • All players from 4th grade up are required to umpire

SELECTION PROCEDURE

  • Trial dates will be advertised as deemed necessary by the committee

  • Players intending to trial are invited to register their intention and pay a non-refundable trial fee by trial date (this fee is deducted from annual subs)

  • Trials are to be held over two (2) sessions or until teams/players are confirmed

  • Teams are not announced verbally in front of players

  • Players will be invited to attend trials on dates set and number of teams will be determined by number of players indicating positive interest to participate

  • Teams can only be selected fairly and equitably if all intending players attend all trials

  • If players do not attend all trials as required, it maybe they are not able to be placed in a team or may be required to play a position not indicated by them when registering to trial

  • Trials are a very difficult task to complete in a given timeframe and we cannot guarantee all players are selected in the team/grade they are seeking; however, all selectors and coaches do their very best to ensure all players are trialled equally and fairly
